After seeing this particular picture one of the shopkeepers in Hill Road Clevedon said “Could I ask you what the painting depicts”. So I said “I would rather hear what you feel when you look at it.” She replied that she was formerly a midwife and that this very clearly depicted the start of life to her. It pleased me greatly for someone to have an understanding of this abstract work, which shows elements combining before producing the first forms of life on earth. Also as a microcosm of this it depicts the start of life in each and every life form.
