NazcaA tribute, to the first inhabitants of South America, and their mammoth artworks, created on the Nazca Plains of Peru. These geoglyphs were created between 200 BC and 600 AD by clearing away dark red top soil to reveal a pale underlying subsoil. The Plain receives little rain or wind, so in spite of being so old they are still clearly visible from satellites or aeroplanes. They are a mystery in that it is difficult to imagine why the Nazca created these images, or indeed just how they could have been created so large and yet so accurately. Many of the lines depicted are perfectly straight and run for several kilometres.Authorised copies repainted to order: 41x51 cms. £300.00 inc frame and UK p+p
